Crux Learning is an education technology consultancy, owned and operated by Chris Betcher.  Chris is an Australian K12 educator with over 30 years experience in helping students and teachers make the most of digital technologies for learning. He has taught in public and private schools in Australia and Canada, and regularly presents at events across Australia and internationally. He sometimes blogs at www.chrisbetcher.com.

Chris was previously the technology integrator at PLC Sydney, one of Australia's premier independent girls schools. In 2016 he became Director of Learning for EdTechTeam ANZ, where he worked with hundreds of schools around the world, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. In 2019 he moved to Google as Program Manager for Google Workspace adoption across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2010 Chris was awarded the inaugural Australasian Educational Media Award at the ACEC Conference in Melbourne.  This award was designed to “acknowledge the contribution of Australasian educators who support the learning community through blogs, wikis, podcasts, forums, mailing lists, virtual communities and other internet resources.” 

 In 2012 he was awarded the inaugural ICTENSW ICT Educator of the Year award. This award recognises NSW teachers who contribute to the use of ICT across the curriculum by ICT Educators of New South Wales, a professional organisation supporting ICT educators in New South Wales.  In 2013 he was also recognised as the Australian ICT Educator of the Year by the Australian Council for Computers in Education, the peak national body for ICT education in Australia.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Education (Visual Art) and has over 30 years of school teaching experience from Kindergarten to Year 12. His teaching areas mainly focused on Art, Design and Technology, Computing, Multimedia, and Information Technology. He has also been a subject Department Head, IT Director, as well as a school Network Manager and Server Admin.

Chris is a Google Certified Innovator, Google Certified Trainer, Google Certified Administrator, and a member of the Google Earth Education Experts group. He is also an Adobe Education Leader, Adobe Education Trainer, Adobe Certified Associate, Microsoft Office Specialist and Apple Teacher

Chris has a curious mind, asks far too many questions, and he likes making interesting things out of zeroes and ones. He has a passion for helping people use technology to learn, teach and work more effectively, and he brings practical experience from the classroom into every workshop and presentation.
